Overview
## A clear, honestexplanation.
What the service is, who it's for, when it's needed, and why professional work matters.

What it is

Design and build electrical installation covers new circuits, containment, distribution, lighting, small power and specialist supplies, designed to brief, installed to BS 7671, and certified on completion. From new-builds and extensions to full refurbishments, retail fit-outs and industrial units.

Who it's for

Self-builders, extension owners, developers, main contractors, architects, kitchen designers and business owners who need an electrical installation built from scratch or overhauled comprehensively.

When you need it

New-build projects, single- and two-storey extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions, kitchen renovations, complete rewires paired with extensions, retail and office fit-outs, and industrial unit refits.

Why it matters

Electrical installations that are designed properly from day one cost less, look tidier and last longer. Coordinated first-fix with builders and plasterers avoids the classic 'we'll chase it in later' mess that wrecks finishes and blows budgets.

The risk
## What goes wrong when installations are unplanned
Unplanned installations always cost more, either at the point of finish, or six months later when circuits are overloaded and rooms don't have the sockets you actually needed.

### What can go wrong

- Overloaded circuits that trip constantly once the space is actually used.
- Insufficient lighting, badly-placed switches and no dimming where you needed it.
- Sockets in the wrong place, behind furniture, blocked by kitchen appliances or missing entirely.
- Chased-in cables that damage skims and ruin plastered finishes.
- No certificate, leaving you unable to sign off building control or sell the property cleanly.

### Common mistakes

- Leaving the electrical design to the builder or joiner instead of the electrician.
- Confirming socket and switch positions on installation day rather than at first-fix planning.
- Skipping load calculations and ending up with an underspec'd consumer unit.
- Buying random fittings online without confirming compatibility with the circuit design.

In detail
## Design & build installation work in detail
Design and build sits between reactive maintenance and pre-drawn commercial fit-out. It's where the electrician takes real responsibility for the electrical design, not just installing someone else's drawings.

### New-build & extension first-fix
Cabling, back-boxes, containment, consumer unit second position, chases and fire-stopping done ahead of plaster and finishes.

### Kitchen electrical design
Ring and radial circuits for appliances, dedicated cooker/oven/hob supplies, under-cabinet lighting, feature pendants, socket layout planned to actual worktop use.

### Bathroom & wet-room design
IP-rated zone-compliant lighting, extraction, shaver sockets, electric showers up to 10.5 kW, coordinated with tiler and plumber.

### Loft & garage conversions
New sub-mains where required, sub-boards, lighting, small power, heating controls and data cabling, all certified to 18th Edition.

### Retail & office fit-outs
Small power, lighting, EPOS supplies, dedicated circuits, containment, distribution board sizing and coordination with main contractor.

### Industrial unit installations
Three-phase distribution where applicable, machinery supplies, isolators, lighting layouts and small power design.

### Outdoor & garden-room installs
SWA armoured supplies, sub-boards, outdoor lighting, weatherproof sockets, EV chargers and hot-tub feeds.

### Test, certify & notify
Full 18th Edition inspection and testing, Electrical Installation Certificate, and NAPIT Part P notification where required.

Residential

Domestic installs sit under Building Regs Part P, notifiable works must be registered by a competent scheme. Attention goes to zone rules in bathrooms and kitchens, socket ergonomics and dimmable lighting design.

Commercial

Commercial installs add RAMS on request, permits, coordinated shutdowns and often three-phase distribution, EPOS, refrigeration and machinery supplies.

FAQs
## Straight answers,before you ring.
Still not sure? Ring Jacob on 07904 800397.

Do you handle the electrical design for new-builds and extensions?+Yes; we take briefs and drawings, do the load calcs, design the circuits and consumer unit, then install, test and certify.

Will you coordinate with my builder?+Yes. First-fix timing is agreed with the builder and plasterer so nothing gets damaged or reworked.

Will I get a certificate for building control?+Yes. Every installation leaves with an Electrical Installation Certificate and NAPIT notification where required.

Do you quote fixed price or day-rate?+Fixed, written, itemised quotes, free, returned within 48 hours (size-dependent for larger projects).

Do you install three-phase for commercial units?+Yes, where the incoming supply supports it. We size distribution and specify machinery supplies as part of the design.

How long does a typical extension first-fix take?+A single-storey extension first-fix is usually 1–3 days, second-fix another 1–2 days after finishes. We'll give firm dates in the quote.

Do you offer a guarantee?+Yes, 12 months in writing on every installation.

What areas do you cover?+Leicester, Hinckley, Market Bosworth, Barlestone, Nuneaton, Coalville, Earl Shilton, Burbage, Ashby-de-la-Zouch and surrounding towns. Larger commercial projects nationwide.
